2. Explaining a process (such as "how to" video)

3. Defining a concept (such as "What is Fast Fashion", "What is Color Wheel", etc.)

Any time based media and software using photography, vector imagery.

Design Considerations:
● Organization Principles – LATCH and Content Organization

● Cognitive Principles – Principles of visualization

Output Expectation:
The presentation must be deliberated on, consider each assessment rubric of sorts to your final outcome:
● Show causality
● Multivariate graphics and visuals
● Integrate word number and images
● Content count
● Within eyesight
● Use multiple charts
● Do not de-quantify

MARK: 40%

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ FLIP Presentation ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆

During the first week, our group brainstormed and decided on the topic of adopting vs. buying pets. After finalizing our topic selection, we proceeded with research based on the guidelines provided. To support our ideas, we also compiled a mood board to help visualize our direction. In the second week, we presented our research findings and mood board to the class.

After receiving feedback, we were advised to incorporate more numerical data and infographic elements to enhance the clarity and impact of our project, as it is primarily focused on information design. As below is our group final FLIP Presentation Slide:

A.Topic Selection

In the first week, our group selected the topic of adopting vs. buying pets. We then conducted research based on the provided guidelines and created a mood board.

In the second week, we presented our findings and received feedback suggesting that we include more numerical infographics since it is an information design-based project.

B.Visual References

To refine our visual approach, we gathered simple clipart references and opted for a cute, minimalist style. This choice made it easier to maintain consistency within the illustration team. Additionally, we explored various video references to help guide our storyboard and script development, ensuring a cohesive and engaging presentation.

C. Storyboard and Script

Initially, we developed a story about a girl adopting a dog, and the storyboard team illustrated it, aiming to use storytelling to convey key information. The narrative concluded with the girl successfully adopting the dog, reinforcing the moral message of choosing adoption.

However, Mr.Shamsul pointed out that our approach was too story-driven rather than information-focused. Based on this feedback, we revised our storyboard and script to be more general and data-driven, ensuring that our project aligned better with the principles of information design.

D. Illustration

As a member of the animation and illustration team, I was responsible for creating visual elements based on the chosen art direction. I illustrated various components by to ensure consistency with our theme and then animated them using Canva.

After refining our work, we presented it for approval, and once the lecturer gave us the green light, we proceeded with the final animation process. We adjusted based on the timeline and VoiceOver duration to synchronized it accordingly.

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ Feedback ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆

Week 1

General Feedback

For next week’s presentation, you will be introducing your Final Project topic, ensuring it is well-structured and effectively communicates your ideas. Make sure to present well-researched content supported by credible sources, and use clear visuals to enhance understanding. Focus on delivering a concise and engaging presentation that effectively conveys the purpose and importance of your project.

Week 2 / Amendment For Information

The topic is well-chosen and informative, but it could be more visually engaging by incorporating numerical data. Additionally, consider applying the LATCH infographic method to better organize and present your information.Simplify the content by reducing the amount of information presented. Incorporate a comparison infographic for better clarity and add links to slides or the e-portfolio for easy reference.

Week 5 / Progress Check

Ensure a balance between graphics and information by including charts, cost breakdowns, and other relevant visuals. Currently, the storyboard resembles a short story rather than an infographic video, so it should be adjusted accordingly. Utilize the research and findings from the Flip presentation and include a clear conclusion at the end.

Week 6 / Progress Check

The storyboard and script have been approved. Since Canva is being used for animation, ensure the quality is high and that the final video stays within the 3-minute limit. Animators should slow down certain parts to make text easier to read. Illustrators should maintain consistency in typefaces—using a modern typeface for body text while keeping the current one for headings. The overall typography and illustrations should be more uniform.

Week 7 / Progress Check

Include at least a voiceover and sound effects in key parts, and add background music if necessary to enhance the video.

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ Reflection ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆
Our Flip presentation on "Purchase vs. Adopting Pets" allowed us to explore the ethical, financial, and social impacts of pet ownership through an informative infographic. By designing a visually engaging layout, we aimed to highlight key differences and encourage responsible decisions. The process strengthened our research, design, and presentation skills, though we recognized areas for improvement, such as enhancing verbal delivery and incorporating real-life examples.

Throughout this project, we went through multiple stages of research, refinement, and presentation to develop a well-structured and engaging final product. In the early stages, we focused on understanding the key differences between purchasing and adopting pets, ensuring our content was well-supported by credible sources. The feedback we received helped us improve our approach by incorporating numerical data, simplifying information, and using infographic techniques such as LATCH to make our message clearer and more visually appealing.

As we progressed, we balanced content with design by integrating charts, cost breakdowns, and relevant visuals to enhance comprehension. The transition from our Flip presentation to an animated video required us to refine our storyboard, ensuring it functioned as an infographic rather than just a short story. We also improved consistency in typography and visual elements to maintain a professional and cohesive look. Additionally, feedback on pacing helped us adjust animations to ensure readability.

Overall, this project was a valuable learning experience that strengthened our research, design, and storytelling skills. The continuous feedback and revisions allowed us to create a more effective and engaging final product. Incorporating voiceovers, sound effects, and background music in the final video further enhanced its impact. This process not only deepened our understanding of responsible pet ownership but also improved our ability to communicate complex information in an engaging and informative way.
