DESCRIPTION:
After time exploring media and learning about information design, you will now develop an infographic that presents a series of different processes as visuals rather than text.
REQUIREMENT:
Your main intention is to analyse the “delivery mechanism’s” that affect the outcomes of your infographics. Though content is important, however the aim of this presentation is too look at what makes an infographic presentation work or does not work. This includes content but only as one of the many components of an infographic:
PART 1: Infographic poster (10%)
INSTRUCTION:
1. Choose 1 infographic poster reference from Internet (Please consult before proceed)
2. Redesign the poster into A4 size. Sketch the idea and process
3. Redesign and simplify the poster based on visual hierarchy & typography
4. Simplify the poster's design based on color, shape & pattern
5. Attach your final poster on E-Portfolio with explanation and reflective writing
PART 2: Minimal animated infographic (10%)
INSTRUCTION:
1. Animate your infographic poster into one static loop animation page
2. Loop duration in between 15-30 second
3. Size: 1080 x 1920 px (Vertical Video) upload to own Youtube channel
SUBMISSION:
1. Digital upload into Google Drive.
2. Online posts in your E-Portfolio and reflective writing.

Week 4: Manuel Lima’s 9 Directives Manifesto
1. Form Follows Function:
- the purpose should always be centered on the explanation, which in turn leads to insight.
- Start with a Question: Work should always be driven by a query
- Allows for investigation and learning through discovery
3. Cite Your Source:
- Always disclose where your data originated
4. The Power of Narrative:
- Humans love stories.
- Elaborate information into storytelling to make it interesting and memorable.
5. Do Not Glorify Aesthetics:
- should always be a consequence and never a goal
6. Look for Relevancy:
- Why are you visualizing the information?
7. Embrace Time:
- Time is difficult to work with.
- time management is one of the key factor to organize and achieve better results for any decision making.
8. Aspire for Knowledge:
- A core ability of Information Visualization is to translate information into knowledge
- facilitate understanding and aid cognition.
9. Avoid Gratuitous Visualizations:
- should respond as a cognitive filter, an empowered lens of insight
- should never add more noise to the flow

Part 1: Infographic Poster
A. Poster Selection
I have selected a series of posters that focus on my passion for tea, specifically exploring the process of making tea. Among them, Mr. Shamsul mentioned that the comic-style version could be quite interesting, while the other designs offer more flexibility for redesign. He expressed a preference for the comic version, but noted that the essential information must be retained. I also find that the other designs might be difficult to comprehend thus I choose the first one.
B. Visual Reference
For visual references in the redesign process, I decided to choose the comic style from "Steven Universe: Ice Cream" as an example. Then, I sketched the teapot and teacup based on these references:

C. Ideation Sketch
After sketching out my ideas and placing my color theme aside, Mr. Shamsul encouraged me to move forward with them.
D. Digitisation
I then drafted out my designs in Adobe Illustrator and coloured it.

Part 2: Minimal Animated Infographic
After completing my poster, I proceeded to animate it using Adobe After Effects. I focused on the liquid of tea with fluid movements and engaging transitions.

⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ Feedback ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆
Week 3
Mr. Shamsul provided positive remarks on the options for my poster. He encouraged me to generate more ideas. My poster sketches were deemed satisfactory.
Week 4
Regarding typography, Mr. Shamsul suggested using serif or italic fonts instead of sans serif, as the tea theme is very European. He recommended ensuring that the spacing between lines and letters is consistent. He also advised incorporating more texture into the background.
Week 5
Mr. Shamsul commented positively on the quality of my animations. Suggested Actions: Poster Design: Investigate various serif and italic font choices that match the theme. Refine the spacing in your typography for improved clarity. Try out different textures for the background to enhance visual interest. Animation: Since Mr. Shamsul gave positive feedback on your animations, consider what specific elements he liked to inform your future work.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ Reflection ˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆
Creating the infographic poster focused on the tea-making process was an interesting experience that combined my passion for tea with design principles. The feedback from Mr. Shamsul was instrumental in shaping my approach, particularly in selecting the comic-style format, which added a playful and engaging aspect to the information. This choice made the content more accessible and enjoyable for the audience, while also allowing me to explore visual storytelling.
Animating the poster using Adobe After Effects further enhanced the project, as it brought my design to life through dynamic movements and transitions. This process taught me the importance of animation in emphasizing key points and capturing viewers' attention. Overall, this project has enriched my understanding of design and animation, and I feel proud of the final outcome and the skills I've developed throughout this journey.
